Generation Y blog 4

Sujaski, Joanne. "Leading a Multi-Generational Workforce." Comprehensive Employee Assessments by Key Group. KEYgroup, 2008. Web. 18 Oct. 2011. <http://www.keygroupconsulting.com/>.

The author did a very good job on letting the readers know what the paper was going to be about. In the beginning of the article the author has a brief summary how what he is going to talk about, Also, he has a he gets into how generation Y, is entering the workforce since 1998 and will continue to do so in burgeoning numbers. He gives a overview on how four generations are going to react in the work place together if this is going to be a pain of a transition. Next, the author gives a big over view of on all four past generations. He does this by  pointing out how particular generations and how they grew up with their different, culture and values on life. Also, he goes into to detail about what each generation has to give, their strong points, and positive points because each generation grew up in completly different times.
He next goes into how gen Y and gen X  while different, Gen X and Gen Y have some similarities. Both will demand a more innovative workplace, with flexible hours, state-of-the-art resources, cooperative scheduling, and understanding supervisors. They will continue to negotiate a work-life balance. He then goes into offering training opportunities to retain employees of all generations, it is important to appeal to their desire to learn. To emphasize career growth, paid training, and skill development a dynamic workplace
because the incoming group of gen Y employees will be so large, the workplace will have to change to
accommodate their unique attributes. He further more goes into that they how businesses will have to be creative in developing new motivational techniques if they want to retain their employees and to obtain the highest performance and output. Another point the author makes is how why to build a successful multi-generational environment. To enhance the work environment,  and to recognize that these groups will have different perspectives, and respect that they differ in the view of the world. The writer thinks doing all of these things will support positive relationships among all employees and go a long way toward retaining your best team members. Then there's a paragraph about the other " Dr. Joanne Sujansky, CSP, has over 25 years of experience helping leaders increase organizational growth and profitability by creating and sustaining what she calls a “vibrant entrepreneurial organization.” She is an international keynote speaker, founder of KEYGroup® and the author of numerous books on leadership, change and retention. A
member of the National Speakers Association, she holds their highest earned designation, Certified Speaking
Professional.
There were many very validating points and predictions of how generation Y will in the force with the past three generation. One of the key concepts I thought was brought up was creating a dynamic workforce. Because of all the incoming group of generation Y employees will be so large, the workplace will have to change to accommodate their new attributes. They will have to be creative in developing new motivational techniques if they want to retain their employees and to obtain the highest performance and output possible. This is a very good point because work environment with problems within employee's will never end well. To be a good employee going into a new work force requires to be responsible. Another good point the author makes explaining how our generations was brought up.  Is how Gen Y was born between 1981 and 1999, which mean they grew up in a time of economic expansion, and until now have never experienced a downturn. Also, that those in this generation have seen more at an earlier age than most in previous generations. Exposure to these events through 24-hour media has brought the world instantly to them. Generation Y is a "techno-savvy" generation who has “seen” the world.
I found this source through Google scholar, I found it very interesting because it's yet another article that breaks down the topic of our generation Y mixing in with the past three generations of the work force. Based on this source I wanted to learn about the arguments and points our fellow Americans think about our generation Y joining the working world and lf we capable to run it. From here I could use this article many ways in my up and coming research paper. Because this article has many points on how each generation was gown up and how our difference might be for the better, thus bringing new idea's to working world. It also brings up many new idea's on how certain programs and seminars could help this big impact of generation Y into the workforce.
